AAVAJ Project
'AAVAJ' is a CSR funded project run by Saheli HIV/AIDS Karyakarta Sangh, supported by Villoo Poonawalla Foundation. The acronym AAVAJ stands for 'Advocacy Against Violence and Alliance for Justice'. AAVAJ is a focused intervention which is being conducted to combat sexual Violence. The project aims to provide free psychological, legal and other required support to adult women and transgender people who are survivors of any kind of sexual violence. Standing against the perpetrators, aiming for their conviction and spreading awareness about sexual violence are the primary objectives of this project. AAVAJ runs a dedicated helpline which is available 24*7 for accessing help.

WHO WE SUPPORT
We provide dedicated support to adult female survivors of sexual violence, including cisgender and transgender women, as well as transgender persons, who have experienced sexual harm in a variety of settings. Our work addresses a wide range of experiences, including but not limited to:
● Sexual Violence in Educational Settings - Incidents occurring within or around colleges, universities, and other academic spaces, whether from peers, faculty, staff, or others in the campus environment.
● Sexual Harassment and Violence at the Workplace - Any form of sexual misconduct or coercion in formal and informal workspaces, including corporate, industrial, field-based, and unorganized sectors.
● Sexual Violence Faced by Domestic Workers - Support for individuals employed in domestic roles who may experience abuse or assault within employer homes.
● Sexual Assault within Domestic Violence - Sexual abuse occurring in the context of domestic violence, including marital rape, coercive sexual acts, or forced intimacy within family settings.
● Violence in Intimate Relationships - Sexual or emotional violence in dating, romantic, or intimate relationships, whether the individuals live together or not, including patterns of control, coercion, or non-consensual acts.
